There are only a few television actors who get to show his or her talent on the big screen and become successful. Vikrant Massey is one of those names who got success in whatever he has done, be it TV, Web-series or films. After landing the major role opposite Deepika Padukone in the Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming movie “Chhapak”, based on acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, Massey spoke to the media and said that for him, it has been a sensitive and responsible role that he looks for. His latest web-series “Criminal Justice” on Hotstar Premium is also being appreciated by critics and audiences and Massey is on cloud nine, undoubtedly.

Mumbai-boy from a simple middle-class family

Vikrant was born to Jolly and Meena Massey in Mumbai on 3rd April, 1987. He has an elder brother and their parental side follows the Roman Catholic belief. He went to St. Anthony’s High School and R.D. National College of Arts and Science.

Working Since His Early Age: Shiamak’s troupe, Café cleaning service to TV

Since childhood, Vikrant has been doing work, sometimes as a part of Shiamak Davar’s dance troupe, or sometimes as a part-time cafe-boy in Versova, Mumbai. He was associated with Shiamak Davar’s troupe for two years. He worked at a café in Versova where filmy people would hang out. Vikrant said that his main intention was to earn a fixed salary and probably a role in a film. Being a middle-class guy, he wanted to earn on his own to support his expenses.

The lady of the café warned me that if anyone gets to know that she’s hired an underage boy, she will land up in jail. I assured her and told everyone that I’m three years older than my actual age.

Vikrant made his debut with Kaahan hoo main in 2004 after that he showcased his skills in Dhoom Machaao Dhoom (Disney Channel), Balika Vadhu (Colors), Baba Also Vaar Dhundho (NDTV imagine),  Dharam Veer (NDTV imagine), Qubool hain (Zee TV) etc. Every character has his own depth and Vikrant has been an immensely successful TV actor since a while.

Filmography: From Playing Small Roles to Being Cast Opposite The Leading Bollywood Heroine

As a true and sensible artiste, Vikrant never had any issues in playing second lead or small roles in movies if it serves his purpose of leaving a mark on audiences’ minds. His debut film was Vikramaditya Motwane’s Lootera (2013) where he played the character called Dev, the friend of Varun (Ranveer Singh). In its brief span, Vikrant left a mark (especially in his tragic death scene). Later in Dil Dhadakne Do, Half Girlfriend, Lipstick Under My Burkha, he was in smaller roles.

However, his superiority as an actor is used by Konkona Sen Sharma in her directorial debut movie A Death in the Gunj(2016-17) that brought Vikrant a Filmfare nomination in Critic’s Choice for Best Actor category.
